Vanessa Jones - TEACHER:

Vanessa Jones began taking Music Together® classes with Jocelyn in the summer of 2010 when her son was two years old. The skills she gained in helping her son develop musically, and the joy of participating with him in music-making made her want to reach out to other parents and their children and share that delight. Vanessa has a B.A. in English Literature and Theatre from Bucknell University and an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Iowa. For several years she taught college and high school English Literature. Her work with children began at the Jane Goodall Institute where she worked on the Roots and Shoots program helping kids implement ideas to help the planet. She also worked at the National Zoo as the coordinator of the children’s programs where she especially enjoyed collaborating on lesson plans and participating in the classes for two-to-three year olds. Vanessa has an informal background in musical theatre, and she sang with a choir in Washington, DC as well as with an a cappella quartet. She currently sings soprano in the Williamsburg Women’s Chorus. She has completed the training with Music Together to be a licensed Music Together teacher. Along with teaching Music Together classes, Vanessa works as a Graduate Admissions Consultant and continues everyday to make music with her son.
